约有63.9%的巴金森氏症（Parkinson’s disease, PD）患者会因逼尿肌过动而产生下泌尿道症状（Lower urinary tract symptoms, LUTS）进而严重影响生活品质。先前研究指出，PD患者黑质部位及腹侧被盖区的多巴胺生成细胞减少，造成复杂神经网路失能而丧失对膀胱反射的控制，因此发表于《Journal of the Neurological Sciences》的最新文章检视未经治疗的PD患者与泌尿道失能严重性间的关系。试验中，共31位未受治疗的PD患者参与研究，并以膀胱过动症量表（Overactive bladder symptom score, OABSS）判断泌尿道失能情形，及以巴金森氏症量表（Unified parkinson's disease rating scale, UPDRS）评估PD患者的活动力。试验结果显示，OABSS数值与UPDRS活动力及运动不能-僵硬之分数呈显著相关，OABSS数值与颤抖情况、年龄及患病时间则无显著关系。研究人员推测膀胱失能及步态干扰皆因包含前扣带皮质（Anterior cingulate cortex）及纹状体黑质（Striatonigral tract）在内的前额叶失能所造成。研究刊登在《Journal of the Neurological Sciences》的网页
